Dear you,
Welcome to the first Luxury Wellness Letter.
I am so glad we have found each other here.
Perhaps you passed by me while searching for supplements; perhaps it was in a travel story, a food journal, or a health article where my name quietly stayed with you.
However we met, thank you first — for giving me these few minutes of your day.
Every two weeks, I hope this letter can be like an old friend who understands you — beside you as you settle into the sofa with a cup of tea, or in some small, unhurried moment of a busy life.
We do not need to learn everything at once, or change every habit overnight. We simply walk together, little by little, making the act of caring for ourselves more natural, and more gentle.
Because I have always believed:
Every choice is an act of self-care.
Health is a way of living — and a gift to your future self.
What I hope to share is not only knowledge of pharmacy, nutrition and health. More than that, I hope to accompany you, in the most ordinary of days, as you find your own Elegant Self-Care. Because true elegance begins with caring for yourself.
A Story from the Dining Table
One day, a very sweet lady came to me carrying a big bag of supplements, smiling as she shared:
"Pharmacist Liu, I take them so diligently every day. A few with breakfast, a few with lunch, a few more with dinner. It adds up to more than ten a day."
Then her smile turned puzzled, and she asked softly, "But… why does it feel like nothing is happening?"
I did not answer right away. Instead I asked, "Auntie, when you bought these, which part of your body were you hoping to care for?"
She paused, then laughed. "Everyone was taking them, so I bought them too."
"And do you know when each of them is best taken?" She shook her head. "Have you noticed the suggested daily amount?" She laughed again. "No — I just take them whenever I remember, all together."
We looked at each other and smiled. She is far from the only one.
As a pharmacist, after countless health consultations and community conversations, I have found that most people truly are willing to care for themselves, and willing to invest in their health. It is just that we often focus on *what we bought* — and overlook the more important question of *how to take it*.
Often, what we need is not more supplements, but a better understanding of our own bodies. To make our health investment count, we need to revisit four core mindsets.
A Little Wiser Today
💡 Four core mindsets for effective supplementation
1️⃣ Why are you taking it? (Clarify the real need)
Every supplement has its own territory to guard. Listen to your body first and clarify your real goal — that matters far more than following the trend.
2️⃣ Are you taking it at the right time? (Optimize absorption)
Different ingredients suit different situations. Some work best with a meal; others need a specific timing. Getting the timing right makes the same supplement work twice as well.
3️⃣ Is the amount precise? (Refuse the overload)
More is not better, and more products do not mean more peace of mind. Overdoing it only burdens the body. Following the suggested amount is what truly efficient care looks like.
4️⃣ Does the formula fit your life? (Read the design)
Instead of chasing the single hottest ingredient, look at the whole formula: does its design meet your work stress, your eating habits, your rhythm of life?
I often compare supplements to a map on a journey.
What matters is not how many maps you have collected, but knowing clearly where you want to go — and choosing the one map that fits.
Supplements are the same. When you know your destination, understand the ingredients, take them the right way and keep going as suggested, they can truly become a teammate in your healthy life.
And what I hope this letter can teach you is not only "what to take". It is to know —
why you take it, how to choose wisely, and how to let health become a way of life that stays with you for a lifetime.
One-Minute Wellness
💡 Why do some people take many supplements, yet feel nothing?
Common reasons may include:
✦ Not enough time yet — the body needs time to adjust and to maintain.
✦ Food, sleep and daily rhythm are still the foundation that needs care first.
✦ The direction chosen may not match what you need right now.
✦ Not following the product's suggested use consistently.
Supplements are more like a "bonus point" in a healthy life — not a shortcut that replaces balanced meals, regular rest and movement.
Take Home with You
If you have read this far, let me invite you to do five very simple things with me.
Today, drink a cup of warm water, and remind yourself that your body deserves care.
Today, put your phone down fifteen minutes earlier, and let your eyes and your mind rest properly.
Today, choose one balanced meal — not because you cannot eat, but because you want to care for yourself.
Today, spend ten minutes tidying one small corner, and give your life a little more ease.
Today, before sleep, say to yourself: "Thank you — for always trying, and for staying with me."
Health does not need to be a hundred points at once.
Just a little more care than yesterday — that is already very good.
Together, let us learn a way of living that can last a lifetime.
A Letter for the Two of Us, Two Weeks from Now
Have you noticed? There are more and more supplements these days.
Fish oil, probiotics, lutein, vitamin D, magnesium, collagen…
Every one of them is recommended by someone; every one of them is "a must".
But do we really need to buy more and more of them?
Or have we been focusing on the wrong thing all along?
In the next letter, I would like to talk with you about a question almost everyone meets:
"What is truly worth investing in is not the most expensive supplement — it is knowing how to choose."
Together we will learn:
✦ How to judge what you truly need?
✦ Is a supplement always better because it costs more?
✦ Ingredients, dosage, formula, usage — which one do you look at first?
✦ Pharmacist Liu's "4W method" for building your own judgement.
Every two weeks, I hope this letter can be like an old friend who understands you — in the most ordinary of days, learning with you how to care for yourself.
Because I have always believed:
Every choice is an act of self-care.
May you, before the next letter arrives, also remember to care for yourself gently.
See you in two weeks.
